Fisheating Creek Outpost

Fisheating Creek Campground

Options:  Back, Reservation and Campground Policy

The Fisheating Creek Campground is part of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission's Fisheating Creek Wildlife Management Area. We're located near the town of Palmdale in Southwest Florida and about as far away from Disney as you can get. Our 'gators are real and a Kite is a bird, not two pieces of wood and plastic. We are in a remote wildlife area but that doesn't mean you have to rough it.

CampgroundOur campground has 120 sites in three distinct areas. RV sites are closest to the main entrance and campground store. Primitive tent sites are north or south of the entrance. North tent sites are close to or on the Swimming Hole's waterfront. Some of the tent sites on the south have direct water access to the Creek. All sites have picnic tables and access to the best playground of all - Mother Nature!

Each bathhouse has sinks, toilets and bathing facilities. Other facilities available at the campground include camp store, kayak and canoe rentals and firewood sales.

RV Sites: We have 52 RV sites including 48 full-hookup sites with 50 amp electric, water and sewer for your convenience. These sites are identified as A1-A8, B1-B10, C1-C11, D1-D5 and F1-F9. RV sites with no hookups include E1-E7. You can see the site location on our campground map. Bathrooms are located between the C & D areas. We have an on-site dump station for those camping in RV sites without sewer.

Tent Sites: We have 68 tent sites. These do not have electricity or water located on site but you can find both at the north or south bathhouses. Waterfront tent sites 11 to 16 are very convenient for canoeists and kayakers.

Generator Friendly Sites: While the campground at Fisheating Creek seeks to maintain itself as a refuge for primitive style camping, summertime can be hot and humid. For those seeking relief from the heat we now allow small, quiet generators to be used on a select group of campsites for tents and pop-up campers. Contact us in advance on which campsites allow generators and please read our generator guidelines.

Please see our Rates page for daily and weekly fees.

IMPORTANT AS OF MARCH 16, 2010:

The campground facilities are open but are being renovated. This includes repairs to the bathhouses, a new campstore/visitor check-in building and general spruce up.

During demolition and construction of the campstore, traffic will be rerouted through an interim visitor check-in. Please follow all signs and instructions when entering and exiting the area. Demolition and construction of the campstore is expected to begin in mid-March and last for 12 weeks.

Generator Guidelines

Noisy generators can disturb other visitors and wildlife. To minimize "noise pollution", generators may only be used at authorized campsites between the hours of 8am and 9pm. Please call us in advance to reserve your generator-friendly site.

When operating a generator we ask that you use common sense at all times. To reduce the risk of starting a fire from your generator, please follow these guidelines:

  • The generator must be located in an area clear of fuels, such as dry grass or other combustibles
  • Extension cords should not cross access paths and must be rated for outdoor use
  • Allow engine to cool before refueling
  • Follow all manufacturer instructions and guidelines
